"Where are you going to write today?" So, here I am, new school year, new city, and new book to write. Most importantly, though, I need to find a new writing spot. So, day one of back-to-school I've set myself a goal to try out all the different writing spots in my very local area. Today, after trying for my local Starbucks and Peets but not being able to find any parking, I have landed at Zoka.... a neighborhood coffee spot just south of my street. Far enough that I have to drive, but close enough that it still feels like I'm in my neighborhood and might run into people I know any moment (well, if I actually knew any people:>) Here's a photo- What do you think? Will it be my new spot? It's hard to tell. I still have a lot of exploring to do before I decide. Fortunately for me I have moved to an city known for its coffee.... and to a neighborhood that proves this out.
Zoka does have a few things going for it. 1. The coffee price seemed reasonable, and every size of the American was the same price. Also, I really like the taste of it.... not too strong, smooth and not at all bitter. 2. It is definitely a hang out kind of spot. I don't see anyone getting mad at me for spending a couple of hours here writing. 3. It came highly recommended by some neighbors and so far the people working here do seem as nice as they said they were. And 4. At least for today I found parking here- free of charge. Follow along as I explore more options, and feel free to weigh in at any time. Cheers, Deanne
